From 1 July 2020, all electric scooters in Singapore will have to be UL2272 certified.
UL2272 is a comprehensive safety standard for motorised PMDs which will ensure that such devices have a lower risk of electrical fires. These fires largely consisted of e-scooters that were illegally modified, purchased from errant online sellers and e-scooter chargers that did not adhere to the Spring Singapore safety certification requirements.
Watch this space as we are bringing in more UL2272 certified electric scooters!
