How to prolong your scooter's battery life?

The main concern of having an electric scooter is the battery life and the cost of replacing it.

1. Stay away from unknown and inferior brand chargers

The number of electric scooters is increasing as the market is booming. Currently, the market is brimming with an enormous number of low quality chargers. Furthermore, the price difference between both is huge as the low quality chargers are cheap. In addition, as most customers have a weak awareness of the danger of inferior chargers, this often leds to them not being able to resist the cheap price.

These chargers are cheap due to the usage of inferior materials like electronic parts, cables and shell materials. And it can cause unstable current and automatic power failure during the charging process.

2. Do not overcharge

There is a tendancy that most customers will charge their scooter overnight or throughout the day. If you happen to charge for more than 8 hours, it is considered as overcharging and also increase the risk of battery fires.

The chance of battery fires is real as the high current drawn by faulty electrical circuit can produce enough heat to product fire. Moreover, leaving your scooter plugged in overnight will degrade your battery and thus, slowly reducing the lifespan of the battery.

3. Stay away from high-temperature charging

As Lithium-ion batteries are strongly temperature dependent, the capacity would drop even faster if it is stored at high temperature environment. Furthermore, it will also cause safety problems in the scooter too.

We will recommend you to store your scooter and charger in an environment with a good ventilation and try to keep it out of the sun and heat.

4. Avoid depleting your scooter's battery before charging

The best way to charge lithium batteries is to charge at around 20% of the battery power. You should never let the battery run out then charge it. It will help to prolong the battery's life if you charge your electric scooter regularly and do not leave it discharged for a long time.
